Frequently asked questions

Chimney Inspections FAQ

The NFPA and CSIA both recommend a professional inspection at least once per year — even if you use your fireplace infrequently.

A Level 1 is a visual review of readily accessible areas; a Level 2 adds a video scan of the flue liner. Chimspector provides Level 2 as its standard offering.

NFPA 211 recommends a Level 2 inspection upon the sale or transfer of property — the appropriate industry standard for an accurate picture before closing.

Every Level 2 inspection includes a courtesy dryer vent check. A full dryer vent cleaning is a separate service that can be added to the same visit.
